We are located in Merry Hill North Carolina, an out-of-the-way gathering place for the entire family, although we are “off the beaten path” (which is preferred) we are still close to shopping and entertainment.
Visit Edenton, North Carolina’s beautifully preserved first Colonial capital has been described as the prettiest small town in the South. Edenton visitors enjoy the most intact Colonial courthouse in America (circa 1767), the 1886 Roanoke River Lighthouse, bay cruises, historic trolley tours, paddling on Edenton Bay, free boat slips & a charming downtown near the waterfront. Here you can tour the historical district, shop the many boutiques, as well as dine and wine the evening away.
Need to go shopping, we have several options, Elizabeth City is 40 minutes away. The wonderful community of Elizabeth City has been named one of the “100 Best Small Towns in America” and is ranked by Money Magazine as “one of best places to live on the East Coast.” It is a special place, rich in history yet progressive and growing. Downtown Elizabeth City welcomes residents and visitors alike with bookstores, coffeehouses and specialty retail shops all located in historic buildings. Restaurants offer everything from fine Southern cooking to Japanese sushi. A walk along the shaded streets of the six historic districts stirs memories of a time when Blackbeard sailed the waters and Wilbur and Orville Wright stopped for provisions on their way to the Outer Banks.
Norfolk/Chesapeake and Virginia Beach are great for shopping and entertainment and are a short-day trip.
